Our Team

Jake Austin, PsyD

Clinician and Founder

Jake grew up in rural southeastern Wisconsin and has a passion for making mental health care available to all people. In addition to treating depression and anxiety, his specialty areas include health psychology and older adult issues. He also enjoys working with the mental health challenges facing men and boys today, specifically around suicidality. He also has significant experience working with couples, parents, and families. He prioritizes collaborating with patients and other members of their medical team, especially their primary care provider.

Prior to studying psychology at Antioch University New England, Jake taught middle school and high school students in the Mississippi Delta through Teach For America.  While in the Delta he completed a Masters in Education at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. His undergraduate studies focused on English and Philosophy at Wheaton College.

In his spare time he enjoys the Wisconsin outdoors in all seasons: cross country skiing, trail running, paddling, and cycling. He’s also a proud girl dad and the owner of a fairly narrow-minded dog named Arlo.

Andy Cooper, MFT-IT

Clinician

Andy achieved his M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy through Edgewood College. He utilizes contemporary, client-focused therapy models that facilitate positive growth and change through empathy, acceptance, and attunement. Andy enjoys working with families, their children and adolescents, as well as couples looking for a relationship repair or reset. He has experience assisting individuals struggling with anxiety and depression, and a particular interest in supporting men and boys wanting to examine their lives within a space where they can feel safe, seen, and supported.

Before becoming a therapist, Andy’s first profession was teaching elementary school. He spent time in classrooms from Chicago to the Himalayan foothills of northern India, and lastly right here on the west side of Madison.

When not in the office, Andy enjoys reading, hiking, birding, playing basketball, coaching baseball, goofing around with his dog, Winnie, and generally spending time in his family of five.
